Two souls in one body: the Museum, with its collections of typewriters, mechanical and electronic calculators, and computers; and the Laboratory, with its educational programmes for Italian schools. All in the name of Natale Capellaro, the brilliant designer whose calculating machines helped make Olivetti a world leader.

An archive is never just a repository of documents, and an industrial archive even less so. This is especially true when the industry in question is Olivetti, with its history of innovation and its deep social and cultural commitment. Here, the archive becomes a source of stories that continue to inspire the present.

The Great Invasion is Ivrea's reading festival, born in 2013. Every year, between May and June, it brings to the city a great many of the finest Italian and international writers, transforming it: from the centre to the outskirts, every corner is reinvented in a festive atmosphere where the real protagonist, even before literature itself, is the joy of reading.
