Located in the heart of the Canavese region, at the gateway to the Aosta Valley and less than 50 km from Turin, Ivrea is easy to reach by both public transport and car. Here you’ll find all the information you need to plan your journey.

Getting here

By car

Ivrea enjoys an excellent road location and is directly connected yo the highway network.

  • From Turin or Aosta: A5 Highway (Turin – Aosta), direct exit at the Ivrea toll booth. The journey from Turin takes approximately 45 minutes.

  • From Milan: A4 Highway (Milan – Turin), then take the A4/A5 highway link towards Ivrea/Santhià to the Albiano exit, or continue on the A5 to the Ivrea toll booth.

  • Other nearby exits: Depending on your destination, you can also use the San Giorgio, Scarmagno, or Quincinetto highway exits.

Ivrea train station is located in the heart of the city (Movicentro, Corso Costantino Nigra), just a short walk from the main historical and industrial attractions (UNESCO World Heritage Site).

  • Main railway line: Ivrea is served by the Turin–Aosta railway line. (*Until the end of 2026, the Ivrea–Aosta section is served by replacement bus services due to railway electrification works.)

  • From Turin: Direct regional trains depart mainly from Torino Porta Nuova and Torino Porta Susa stations. The journey takes approximately 50–55 minutes.

  • From Milan: Take a train to Turin or Novara/Chivasso, then change to a connecting service towards Ivrea/Aosta.

The Movicentro (located near the train station) is the city’s main transport hub for local and regional bus services.

  • Local and regional connections: The GTT and Extra.To regional bus networks provide regular connections between Ivrea, Turin, and all the main towns in the Canavese area.

  • National and international connections: Long-distance services (such as FlixBus and MarinoBus) stop in Ivrea, providing direct connections to Milan, Orio al Serio Airport, the Aosta Valley, and several cities across Northern and Central Italy.

For those travelling by plane, the main nearby airports are located in Piedmont and Lombardy:

  • Torino-Caselle Airport (TRN): The closest airport, located approximately 40 km from Ivrea. From the airport, you can rent a car (via the A5 highway connection) or reach Turin city centre by public transport (train or Express bus) and get to Ivrea by train.

  • Milano Malpensa Airport (MXP): Located approximately 125 km from Ivrea. It is connected to Ivrea via the highway network (A4 and the A4/A5 highway link) or by bus and train services via Milan/Novara.

  • Other airports: Milano Linate (approximately 150 km) and Bergamo Orio al Serio (approximately 170 km), the latter also served by some direct long-distance bus services.
