A small factory was founded in a small town. Then the factory grew beyond all boundaries, and the small town grew with it, becoming international in outlook. Yet it never lost its roots, its popular traditions or its distinctly long-established customs. Just as the boundaries between past and future blur in Ivrea, so too do those between the local and the global, between the territory and the wider world. Need an example? The Olivetti Lettera 22 won international acclaim, and the Illinois Institute of Technology described it as “the best-designed product of the past 100 years.” One of its advertising slogans captured the spirit perfectly: “Your portable typewriter comes from Agliè.”
Via Jervis and the surrounding area are home to the buildings that make up the UNESCO World Heritage property’s core zone. Located in the historic “Portineria del Pino”, the Visitor Centre welcomes tourists and visitors.
