Adriano Olivetti Foundation
The Adriano Olivetti Foundation was established in 1962 by the family and closest collaborators of the Ivrea industrialist with the aim of preserving and advancing his cultural, civic, and social legacy. Since then, its mission has been to transform Olivetti’s ideas and experience into valuable tools for understanding and addressing the challenges of the contemporary world.
To this end, the Foundation promotes ongoing research and experimentation, both theoretical and practical, in the fields of corporate culture, social sciences, industrial innovation, and urban planning. It collaborates with public institutions, private organisations, and third-sector bodies at both national and international levels to develop projects capable of making a tangible contribution to social progress. In this sense, it serves as a laboratory of ideas, interpreting the Olivetti legacy as a dynamic and contemporary resource.
With offices in Rome and Ivrea, the latter located in Adriano Olivetti’s home and studio, the Foundation provides advanced training programmes for businesses and educational initiatives for Italian schools. It also curates exhibitions, research projects, and events that help preserve and share a legacy that has profoundly shaped Italy’s history.
Edizioni di Comunità
Founded in 1946 by Adriano Olivetti, Edizioni di Comunità played an important role in Italy’s cultural renewal by introducing themes and authors that had been effectively excluded from the national debate during twenty years of Fascist dictatorship, or that had yet to find a place within the country’s publishing landscape. Among them were Simone Weil, Søren Kierkegaard, Richard Neutra, Jacques Maritain, Joseph Schumpeter, and Lewis Mumford.
Revived in 2012 thanks to the Adriano Olivetti Foundation, Edizioni di Comunità is today an independent publishing initiative that continues this vision by bringing the key texts and ideas of Olivetti’s thought to contemporary readers.
